Head of Marketing and Communications
Salary: From £35,811.32 per annum
Full-time | Central Office, South school (SE1) and East School (E1) Offices
About The Complete Works
The Complete Works (TCW) is an independent school and charity committed to making a real difference to the lives of young people who need a different approach to education.
We work with young people across London who may have experienced significant barriers to education, including SEND, anxiety, trauma, medical needs, exclusion and other challenges that can make traditional education difficult.
Our approach is creative, individualised and holistic. We believe that every young person has potential, and our role is to create the right environment for them to recognise and achieve it.
We are an ambitious and growing organisation, and we are now looking for an exceptional Head of Marketing and Communications to help us build our profile, strengthen our communications and support the next stage of TCW's development.
About the role
This is a strategic and varied role at the heart of our charity.
As Head of Marketing and Communications, you will lead the development and delivery of TCW's marketing and communications strategy, helping to raise the profile of our charity, schools and wider activities.
You will play a key role in how TCW presents itself to the world from developing campaigns and growing our digital presence, to building relationships with referrers, securing media opportunities and ensuring that our internal communications are clear, consistent and engaging.
You will also work closely with the Executive Team, providing strategic advice on communications, public relations, reputation and stakeholder engagement.
You will have a real hands-on experience with the running and shaping of TCWs Social Enterprise - TCW Cafe.
What you will be responsible for
You will:
Develop and deliver a marketing strategy that supports TCW's vision, growth and expansion plans.
Lead marketing activity across our schools, charity, external training, speaking engagements and social enterprise activities.
Develop a proactive strategy for engaging new and existing referrers and raising awareness of TCW.
Help establish TCW as a nationally recognised organisation within Alternative Provision and creative education.
Develop relationships with education and trade press and identify opportunities for positive media coverage.
Oversee the work of our Social Enterprise, TCW Cafe and support the Cafe Manager.
Oversee TCW's website, social media, brand identity and digital presence.
You will also be an important member of our Heads of Department team, contributing to the wider leadership and development of TCW.
About you
We are looking for someone who is both strategic and hands-on.
You will have demonstrable experience of marketing and communications, including planning and delivering campaigns and evaluating their impact. You will be a confident and talented writer who can adapt your communication style for different audiences and purposes.
You will be comfortable using digital and social media channels, understanding analytics and using data to inform your decisions. You will also be confident representing an organisation externally, whether at conferences, events, in meetings with partners or through media opportunities.
We are particularly interested in someone who can bring creativity, ideas and ambition to the role. We want to grow TCW's profile and reach, and we need someone who can identify opportunities rather than simply respond to them.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of marketing and communications within a growing charity and independent school.
Essential experience and skills
Applicants should be able to demonstrate (please see JD):
An honours degree or equivalent professional qualification.
Experience in marketing, including campaign planning, delivery and evaluation.
Experience managing social media and digital marketing channels and using analytics to inform decisions.
Experience in communications, PR and/or recruitment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience developing and maintaining a brand identity.
Experience generating original campaign and content ideas.
Experience of working in education, Alternative Provision, the charity sector, a creative environment or marketing training/social enterprise activities would be desirable, but is not essential.
Our values
At TCW, our work is guided by four core values:
Creativity | Individuality | Holistic Education | Open-mindedness
We are looking for someone who shares these values and can bring them to life through their work.
If you are an ambitious marketing and communications professional who wants to use your skills to help a growing charity make a bigger impact, we would love to hear from you.
